- Men’s and Women’s cross country competed in the Charlotte Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 3. The men finished fourth with Trevor Sprague leading the squad in a C of C record time of 25:42.2. The women finished seventh, paced by Erin Stoddard with a time of 18:35.6.

- Men’s soccer dropped two matches last week, including a conference match to Davidson 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday. Matt Morris and Zach Prince recorded first-half goals for the Cougars before the Wildcats tied the game with back-to-back goals in a one-minute span. Davidson won the game on a penalty kick. The Cougars fell to Alabama A&M 1-0 on Saturday.

- Women’s soccer improved to 7-4-1 and 3-1 in SoCon action over the weekend. The Cougars posted a 2-0 win over Wofford on Friday with goals from Christian Patton and Sarah Schaidle. Sarah Wiggins picked up the shutout for C of C.  The squad then dropped a 1-0 decision to Furman on Sunday.

- Men’s basketball player Antwaine Wiggins will miss the 2009-10 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Wiggins was the fourth-leading scorer last season, averaging 8.3 points and 3.9 rebounds while starting all 36 games.

- C of C Athletics re-launched its new Web site last week. The CofCSports.com re-launch includes expanded video, improved live event streaming and a fan-engaging design to give fans better access to information.

- Maroon Madness will be held on Friday, Oct. 16 to kick off the 2009-10 men’s and women’s basketball seasons. The festivities will be held in the Carolina First Arena beginning at 7:30 p.m.
